Scoopcity Fantastic
As a Junior at the University of Illinois, I founded ScoopcityFantastic.com, a profitable humor blog.
By creating and curating memes, images, and gifs, I attracted a loyal group of followers and earned over 65,500 unique visitors in two years. Is that good?

Scoopcity started as a simple Tumblr blog to keep me busy between classes. The idea was simple: post funny things to help classmates stave off boredom. When I ran out of content to repost, I began creating my own memes, images, and gifs. I quickly realized the more original content I created, the more followers I gained.
Remember, this was back in 2009, before everyone knew how to Photoshop text onto an image or turn video into gifs, so a few of my original posts made it to the front pages of several subreddits and into various Buzzfeed posts. Even today, I occasionally see memes that I made for Scoopcity on popular Instagram accounts such as @Fatjew, @BeigeCardigan, and @BoyWithNoJob.
I retired the site in 2012. Still miss it.
visitors
The site earned over 65,500 unique visitors in just two years. Over 8,000 of these visitors returned to the site more than 50 times. Not bad for a personal blog run out of the basement of the English, right? I don’t know.
